Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue state, has appointed eight new commissioners days after partially dissolving his cabinet.

Ortom on Thursday swore in the new members of the state executive council at the Benue Peoples House in Markurdi.

The governor had retained eight commissioners when he dissolved the cabinet on January 4.

Ortom asked the new appointees to show “complete loyalty” to achieve the “collective vision for a new Benue”.

The governor congratulated the appointees and asked members of the state executive council, special advisers and other government officials to support them while performing their duties.

The newly appointed commissioners include; Kester Kyenge, agriculture and natural resources; Uungwa Sachia, works and transport; Agbatar Rodney, industry and cooperatives. Michael Inalegwu, Information, culture and tourism; Agber Benjamin, trade and investment; Jane Ogoma, energy, science and technology; Teryima Nguher, youths and sports; and Sarwuan Tarnongo, education.

Godwin Oyiwona, the former commissioner for energy, science and technology, was redeployed to the water resources and environment ministry.

The new special advisers are Mike Adyo who will serve on the primary education board; Richard Ujege, water resources and environment; Adenguhar Aondoaver, works and transport; Joshua Ogbole, revenue and taxation and Otokpa Otse, secondary and tertiary education.
