Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says the only way Atiku Abubakar can clear himself of corruption allegations is to sue former President Olusegun Obasanjo for libel.

Oshiomhole said this on Thursday at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano during the reelection campaign of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must prove that the former president lied in the corrupt allegations made against him in the past.

“If Obasanjo said Atiku is corrupt but because of his hatred for President Muhammadu Buhari, he is now ready to reabsorb corrupt people, having institutionalised corruption. Does that mean what he said of Atiku is not true?” Oshiomhole said.

“The only way Atiku can clean his name is to go to court and sue former President Olusegun Obasanjo that he lied against him. He must sue for libel.

“If he does not sue for libel, that means Atiku understands that everything Obasanjo said about him is correct and therefore it will be dangerous to interrogate him further. Then, if it is correct, he is not a fit and proper person to offer himself to Nigerians.”

At a programme in Lagos on Wednesday, Obasanjo had said if Jesus was imperfect, it wasn’t expected of Atiku to be a saint.
