The court of appeal in Abuja, has adjourned indefinitely, proceedings in the appeal filed by Adams Oshiomhole challenging his suspension as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A high court of the federal capital territory (FCT) had on March 4, ordered the suspension of Oshiomhole.

The ruling was delivered following a suit filed by one Oluwale Afolabi, a member of the APC, who challenged the continuous stay of Oshiomhole in office despite his suspension by the Edo chapter of the APC.

The national chairman promptly filed an appeal asking that the suspension order be set aside.

Although the appeal has not been heard, a three-man panel of the appellate court led by  Abubakar Yahaya, while ruling on an ex parte application brought by Oshiomhole on Monday, stayed the execution of the suspension order.

Yahaya also restrained the respondents in the appeal from proceeding to act or take any further steps with regards to the ruling of the FCT high court.

Consequently, the order made by the court gives Oshiomhole the powers to continue office as the national chairman of the APC pending when the main appeal is heard and determined.

Friday was initially fixed for hearing. However, when the matter came up for hearing on Friday, a clerk of the court told counsels in the matter that the case would not go on.

He also informed that a new date would be communicated to the parties.

Meanwhile, Oshiomhole has asked members of the party for forgiveness, pleading with those in court to withdraw their cases.
