Many Nigerian players were in action for their respective clubs over the weekend – some impressed, others flopped, and many were lost in the activities.

Here are the top performers who made TheCable’s team of the week.

Sebastian Osigwe – Krien

Osigwe had one of his best games of the season in Krien’s 0-0 draw with Winterthur in the Swiss Challenge League. He was outstanding behind the sticks.

Kevin Akpoguma – Hoffeinham

Akpoguma unsurprisingly picks the right back spot due to his exploits against Werder Bremen.

Kenneth Omeruo – Leganes

It takes a lot of courage to pick a point at Atletico Madrid’s abode. This was down to the defensive discipline of Kenneth Omeruo for Leganes.

Semi Ajayi – West Brom

It won’t be a mistake to rate Semi as the best Nigerian defender abroad based on current form. The Arsenal alumni proved himself in the FA Cup win at West Ham United. He would later be sent off.

Chidozie Awaziem – Leganes

A reliable outlet at the back for Leganes who drew 0-0 against Atletico Madrid.

Shehu Abdullahi – Bursaspor

Shehu Abdullahi underlined his importance to Bursaspor with another solid display in the win at Akhisarspor.

Joe Aribo – Rangers

Aribo’s passes were top notch. He provided the assist for Rangers’ goal in the loss to Hearts.

Samuel Chukwueze – Villarreal

Samuel Chukwueze has — over the course of time — been a source of joy to his club and country. He tormented Deportivo Alaves back line in Villarreal’s 2-1 win.

Chidera Ejuke – Heerenveen

Seven goals in 19 appearances as a winger and still counting. Ejuke ran the AZ defenders ragged in Heerenveen’s loss at home.

Kelechi Iheanacho – Leicester City

The stone which the builders rejected has become well known worldwide. That’s the story of Kelechi Iheanacho who was the saviour for Leicester City in their 1-0 win over Brentford. His goal was well taken.

Bartholomew Ogbeche – Kerala Blasters

Ageless striker Bartholomew Ogbeche struck his 8th goal of the season in Kerala Blasters’ 3-2 loss to Goa. He also accounted for an assist.
