Victor Osimhen, Super Eagles forward, has apologised for his derogatory remark over a report stating that he intends to emulate Diego Maradona, South American football legend, in Napoli.

Maradona had a spectacular career in Napoli, where he won two Italian championships for the club in the 1986/87 and 1989/90 seasons.

In July, Osimhen joined the Italian side on a five-year deal from Lille, a French Ligue 1 club, for a deal worth £74 million.

The headline of a report by a Nigerian newspaper had quoted the 21-year-old as saying he intends to emulate Maradona in Napoli.

“I never said such a thing,y’all copy paste journalist just like to fabricate lies, since the passing of my late father  I haven’t grant any interview whatsoever, stop this nonsense else na thunder go fire una,” read the tweet.
