Victor Osimhen, Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, set the record for the highest-scoring African player ever in the Italian Serie A following his winning goal in Napoli’s 1-0 win over Fiorentina on Sunday.

The 24-year-old, who led Napoli to its first Serie A title in 33 years in midweek, continued his heroics against Fiorentina at the Diego Maradona Stadium where his club celebrated being crowned champions.

Osimhen scored the landmark goal in the 74th minute from the penalty spot for his 47th goal in the Italian league.

He sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to break George Weah’s record of 46 goals which has stood since 1999 and sent the Napoli crowd into a frenzy.
