Osinbajo summons IGP over kidnap of German archaeologists

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday summoned Ibrahim Idris, the inspector-general of police, over the kidnap of Peter Breunig and Johannes Behringer, German archaeologists, in Kaduna state.

According to NAN, Idris briefed the acting president on the efforts the police have made to rescue the victims unhurt and apprehend the kidnappers.

The police had since dispatched a team of special forces and investigators to work in synergy with the indigenes of towns and surrounding villages where the victims were kidnapped.

The special investigation team on kidnapping and terrorism cases under the command of the deputy inspector- general of police, department of operations, is also participating in the rescue operation.

The archaeologists were working in collaboration with National Commission for Museum and Monument on the relics of NOK culture in Nigeria, when the incident happened.

Two members of the local community in company of the Germans were killed during the attack.

TheCable gathered that the abductors have demanded a ransom of N60 million.
