The Osun state government has launched a free train service initiative to facilitate travel for residents celebrating Eid-el-Kabir.
According to a flier seen by TheCable, the service will operate between Thursday, May 5, and Tuesday, May 10, 2025.
The “homecoming” train will depart from the Iddo train terminus in Lagos at 10 am on May 5, to Osogbo. The return trip from Osogbo to Lagos is scheduled to leave at 10 am on May 10.
This initiative aims to ease travel for Osun Muslims during the festive period, allowing them to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with their families and communities.

When contacted by TheCable, a representative confirmed the details of the free train service as advertised on the flier.
The representative emphasised that the initiative is part of the state government’s commitment to supporting its residents during key cultural and religious events.
She noted that the free train service is expected to accommodate a large number of passengers, ensuring that as many Osun Muslims as possible can partake in the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations with their loved ones.

In 2024, Osun announced a similar free train service for its citizens living in Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo, enabling them to travel for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
