Osun APC suspends Aregbesola’s ally, 25 members over ‘anti-party activities’

Moshood Adeoti, an ally of Rauf Aregbesola, immediate former minister of interior, is among 26 members suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state over alleged anti-party activities.

Aregbesola had supported Adeoti over Gboyega Oyetola, ex-governor of Osun, who was seeking reelection in 2022.

Oyetola went on to clinch the APC’s ticket but was defeated at the polls by Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Aregbesola was the governor of Osun between 2010 to 2018 and handed over to Oyetola, who served under him as chief of staff after winning the 2018 election.

In a statement on Thursday, Tajudeen Lawal, chairman of the party in Osun, said Adeoti and 25 other people were accused of creating a faction of the APC in the state.

“This disciplinary measure came in response to the allegations of misconduct bordering on factionalization of the party and creating a parallel party organ,” Lawal said.

“The disciplinary committee undertook a thorough and impartial review of the allegations and the findings were carefully deliberated upon by the state executive committee.”
