Rauf Aregbesola, governor of Osun state, says the state needs an internally generated revenue (IGR) of five billion naira every month to survive.

Speaking during the opening of Olufi Middle School, Gbongan in Ayedaade local government area of the state, Aregbesola said Osun would conveniently cater to all its needs and fast-track development if it generates the said amount as IGR on a monthly basis.

Aregbesola added that such situation would help to ameliorate the current economic crisis in the state and make it stand on its own, without depending on the allocations of the federal government.

He also disclosed that the N310 million used in building the school was borrowed, and advised teachers and students to make proper use of the facility, expressing the wish for it to be renovated after 50 years.

The Aregbesola administration has built 11 high schools and promised to complete seven others by March 2016, in order to fulfil its promise to the people.

“We intend to construct 100 state-of-the-art elementary schools, 15 have been completed and we are also going to construct 50 middle schools in the state,” he said.

Commenting on the economic challenges in the country, Aregbesola said: “it is time for every adult to be involved in one agricultural activity or the other as that is the only way we can survive the current challenges.”

This man should be fired! He’s not worth to be governor if he lacks ideas to generate N5B ie £12.5M; $18.8M a month. Nigeria is truly suffering under the hands of these olodo politicians.

This Aregbe and his thieving counterpart in Oyo state are misfits. It is rather unfortunate. They would only invest in so called capital projects where they know that their palms
will be oiled.Workers are hungry and this callous is busy building useless schools.
