The Osun state caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027.
In a communiqué issued after a meeting at the government house in Osogbo on Monday, the caucus also reaffirmed support for Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun, to seek a second term in 2026.
The communiqué said the decision followed consultations with traditional rulers, civil servants, retirees, religious leaders, market unions, party members and residents across the state.
The PDP leaders responded to speculation about Adeleke defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the move “did not originate from the governor” and was not supported by most APC members.

“That the majority of the members of the APC in Osun State are opposed to the idea of the defection of Governor Adeleke to the APC, which did not originate from the governor in the first instance,” the communiqué reads.
“Some APC leaders, based on entrenched interests, have demonstrated hostility and resentment towards Governor Ademola Adeleke.
“Some went on social media and national television to call Governor Adeleke all kinds of unprintable names.

“That the majority of PDP members in Osun State are not happy about the idea of the defection of Governor Adeleke to the APC, but only reluctantly agreed to follow Governor Adeleke to wherever he goes to show their love, support, and loyalty to his leadership.”
According to the communiqué, both the PDP and the governor enjoy broad popularity in Osun, “surpassing any other political party”.
The party leaders added that all PDP structure in Osun have been directed to disseminate the resolutions, while the governor was urged to “forge ahead with governance and implementation of the administration’s Five Point Agenda”.
The communiqué was signed by Adeleke and other PDP leaders, including Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Kola Adewusi, Lere Oyewumi, Bamidele Salam, Moruf Adebayo, Lukman Mudashiru and Soji Adetunji.
