Otti meets Tinubu at State House after visiting Nnamdi Kanu in Sokoto prison

Alex Otti, governor of Abia, met with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday.

TheCable understands that Otti was sighted at the State House around midday shortly after the president’s meeting with service chiefs.

The meeting comes on the heels of the governor’s visit to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), at the Sokoto correctional centre.

It was not immediately clear what the governor and the president discussed behind the closed door, but there are feelers that the meeting might be part of the ongoing behind-the-scenes efforts to secure the release of Kanu.

Following Kanu’s conviction over terrorism offences, Otti said he had activated a political and diplomatic strategy aimed at securing the release of the IPOB leader.

Ferdinand Ekeoma, the governor’s special adviser on media and publicity, said Otti, during the visit, encouraged Kanu to remain strong.

Ekeoma quoted Otti as noting that engagements he initiated more than two years ago had been intensified.a
