On Thursday, Omid Kordestani, executive chairman of Twitter, announced that Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, a former minister of finance, has been appointed to the board of directors of the micro blogging site.

The two-time finance minister was appointed alongside Robert Zoellick, chairman, board of directors of AllianceBernstein Holding, a global investment management firm.

“Pleased to welcome @NOIweala and @authorzoellick to the @twitter Board!,” Kordestani tweeted.

Known for active participation on social media, Nigerians have been commenting on the Okonjo-Iweala’s appointment.

“You’re such a beauty and blessing for my dear country. Just so unfortunate that you served under PDP bad governance for 16 bad years,” Dina Mclarry tweeted.

“Congrats @NOIweala for this great achievement. You are truly an achiever and a great Biafran making us proud. Ride on ma’am,” Mary Mkemdi tweeted.

“After an outstanding career ma, come and contest for president! We will vote for you,” Blank tweeted.

“For the records: her NYSC [certificate] is not oluwole. Congratulations ma. I celebrate you,” Chidi Lemchi tweeted.

“Congratulations Ma, you are a big inspiration to me, thank you,” Tonye tweeted.

“Twitter is colluding with the left, to silence conservative voices. Stop it Jack!!! Shadow banning of conservatives is now epidemic. @Jack, @POTUS, @LindseyGrahamSC , @SenatorTimScott – Do something about this now,” Paul tweeted.
