Our main factory not affected by fire outbreak, says Dangote Group

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) says it had put an end to a fire outbreak at Dangote Noodles, one of the offices of Dangote Group in Ikorodu, Lagos.

In a statement by Adesina Tiamiyu, managing director of LASEMA, the agency said no single casualty was recorded as all fire services in the region collaborated to quell the outbreak.

“Report on fire incident at dangote company located at Ogolonto, Ikorodu. The Agency received a distress call on Thursday 13th October at about 2:10pm via the CRM concerning a fire outbreak at the aforementioned location,” LASEMA said.

“Upon receipt of the distress call the Agency activated its emergency response plan and mobilized her emergency response team to the incident scene, however, the Agency coordinated Rescue and Recovery operations in collaboration with Lagos State Fire Services,  NPA fire services, Dangote fire service department, NSCDC, NEMA as well as Nigerian police force.

“No casualties recorded. The swift response of the Emergency Responders  culminated to  the salvage of other buildings and factory. The fire affected the company’s store house destroying cartons as well brand wrappers.Recovery operations still on going.”

Responding to the fire outbreak, Dangote Group said it was only the packaging material section that was affected.

“The fire affected mainly the Packaging Material section and part of the laminate stores. The main Production Factory and the Finished Product Store were not affected by the fire,” the group said.

“Fire-fighting officials were invited and the fire was successfully put out without any casualties. We want to assure our customers of our unflinching commitment to excellent service possible. Thank you for your concern.”

Dangote Group is adjudged the most diversified conglomerate in Africa, with heavy presence in cement, sugar, flour, salt, and most recently, oil and gas industry.
