President Muhammadu Buhari says the performance of his administration in the power sector was “not good enough”.

Buhari, however, called for more efforts by electricity distribution companies to provide the needed resources and technical expertise in order to deliver on their mandate.

Femi Adesina, his special adviser on media and publicity, quoted him as saying this when he addressed members of the Edo state council of traditional rulers and chiefs during their visit to the presidential villa in Abuja on Wednesday.

Ewuare II, oba of Benin, who drew Buhari’s attention to the issue, described the power supply in Edo state as a “pathetic situation.”

He called for the intervention of the president to alleviate the sufferings of the people.

“We are building infrastructure. We are doing our best, but, obviously, our best is not good enough yet,” Buhari said.

“I am pleased that you have taken up the fight against human trafficking and I know the effect of your intervention will be felt beyond our borders.”

Ewuare II congratulated Buhari for his second term in office and prayed for divine intervention as he chooses his cabinet.

“We pray the Almighty God to help you put in place a formidable team of men and women of proven integrity that will join you to take this nation to the next level,” he said.
