John Oyegun, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, the country no longer depends on oil to survive.

Oyegun said this on Saturday at a rally which the APIC in Kogi organised to receive defectors.

The APC national chairman explained that the Buhari administration has repositioned the country’s economy as revenue now comes from other sources.

According to him, the APC government has saved Nigeria from economic doom.

“Nigeria, under President Buhari, no longer depends on oil to survive. Today, under Buhari, Nigeria has taken the lead in the agricultural production and the nation is operating on a stable economic progression.”

Earlier, Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi, said Buhari must contest in 2019.

He said all the members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi that mattered have defected to the APC.

“President Buhari must contest second term because all the 24 APC governors are ready to support his reelection,” Bello said.

“All the PDP members that mattered in the state have all decamped to the APC because they have seen the light and realised that APC has better programme for the people of the state and Nigeria in general.”
