The Oyo government, in partnership with Blue Synergy Media (BSM), will honour 48 iconic personalities at the commemoration of the state’s 48th anniversary.

The state was created from the defunct western region on February 3, 1976.

In a statement on Monday, Tope Aileru, the team lead at BSM, said the event’s high point would be the conferral of special recognition honours on 48 icons who have contributed to the development of the state.

Aileru said the first part of the occasion will hold at the Western Hall of the house of assembly complex.

He added that the Cultural Centre would host an after-party that will be open to the public. 

“The event is put together to celebrate the uniqueness of Oyo state as the pacesetter state in Nigeria, as well as the shining icons that have placed the state so high on the global stage,” Aileru said.

“48 iconic personalities are to be honoured at a special event to commemorate the 48th anniversary of the creation of Oyo State. These individuals and organisations have made the state proud since its creation.

“The event will be held at the Western Hall, House of Chiefs, Oyo State House of Assembly Complex, Agodi Ibadan between 4 pm and 6 pm. 

“An afterparty event (open to the public) will then follow at Ori Oke (Cultural Centre) — scheduled to be held between 7 pm and 10 pm.”
