A Peugeot car parked in the middle of the road at Nyanya sparked panic in Abuja on Thursday.

According to a witness, the car, suspected to be laden with explosives, was abandoned by its owner.

“At about past 10 am, I noticed the car parked on the road. It is not certain if there are explosives in the car, but soldiers searched it. I can’t say what they found,” a passer-by who witnessed the incident said.

However, the Nigeria police issued a statement denying at attempted blast.

“Please disregard the rumour and go about your lawful business.”
