Parents of the abducted students of the College of Forestry Mechanisation Afaka in Kaduna state, on Tuesday staged a protest at the national assembly.

In March, bandits attacked the college located in Igabi LGA and abducted the students, but 172 of them were rescued, leaving 39 in captivity.

Out of the 39 in captivity, 10 have regained their freedom.

Last Tuesday, a video released by the bandits showed the students appealing to their parents and the government to facilitate their release.

“Please, we are begging on our parents to please come and help us out of here. We have stayed here for days, we have not been eating, some us have been sick. Please, we’re begging our parents to come and help us out of here. We’re tired,” Emmanuel, one of the abductees said in the video.

On Tuesday, the protesters including members of the students’ union government (SUG) of the institution, carried placards with various inscriptions calling on the government to ensure the immediate release of the abducted students.

The protesters who commenced their protest at the Unity Fountain were however denied entry into the National Assembly Complex by security operatives.
