The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board says the number of candidates who have printed their notification slips ahead of the upcoming mop-up UTME is disturbingly low.
The 2025 mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is to hold on June 28.
This UTME is to accommodate 5,096 spill-over candidates and those who encountered biometric verification issues during the main examination.
A special dispensation was also granted to some 91,742 candidates who were absent from either the main or resit examinations conducted after the 2025 technical error.

The mop-up was also intended to cover for candidates who were absent from both examinations, for whatever reason.
In total, 96,838 candidates are set to participate in this mop-up exercise across 183 centres nationwide.
But as of the morning of June 27, JAMB said only 12,442 out of the 98,232 scheduled candidates have printed their slips.

This, the board said, reflects a meagre 12.6 per cent participation rate.
JAMB, while calling on candidates, said the mop-up is a rare opportunity for them to participate in this year’s examination.
“We urge all candidates who missed their previous examinations, to reprint their slips to ensure they do not miss this opportunity,” it said.
JAMB said it is actively monitoring the printing process to determine the number of candidates who will be present for the examination.

It said it has deployed both human and material resources to facilitate this exercise, ensuring that all registered candidates have the opportunity to sit the examination.
“Failure to print the examination notification slip will result in forfeiture of the opportunity to take the exam,” the board said.
