Udom Emmanuel, governor of Akwa Ibom state, says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the only party that can take Nigeria out of its present economic situation.

Speaking in Benin during the flag-off of the campaign of Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the party for the September 10 governorship election of Edo state, Emmanuel appealed to the people to support the party.

He said the PDP was ready to reclaim Edo from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), and keep the region as a stronghold of the PDP.

Emmanuel, who spoke on behalf of the PDP governors, described Ize-Iyamu as a credible candidate who will reposition Edo.
