THE QUESTION: Is Mu’azu, PDP chairman, really quietly working for Buhari?

THE QUESTION: Is Mu’azu, PDP chairman, really quietly working for Buhari?
March 16
11:33 2015

Reports that Adamu Mu’azu, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is treated with strong suspicion in the camp of President Goodluck Jonathan may not be flimsy after all, TheCable can report.

Already, there are insinuations that Mu’azu, who was the governor of Bauchi state from 1999 to 2007, is not “lifting a finger” for Jonathan ahead of the March 28 presidential election, apart from putting up appearances at the rallies.

Worse still, it is feared that he might actually be more sympathetic to the cause of Muhammadu Buhari, who is flying the flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A senior presidency official confirmed to TheCable that “Mu’azu is not in the good books of the president but it would be too much to say he is working for Buhari or that he would be asked to resign”.

An associate of Mu’azu told TheCable that the PDP chairman is “angry” at the way the president’s wife has been attacking the north in her campaign speeches, as well as her “disrespectful remarks” against Buhari whom she described as “braindead”.

However, a source close to Buhari told TheCable that there have been “indirect contact” from Mu’azu whom he said is under “tremendous pressure” from his family not to throw his body on the line for Jonathan.

The source said Mu’azu is now more disposed to having Buhari as the next president, and attributed it to the “political currents in Bauchi state”.

Bauchi has always been a very difficult hunting ground for the PDP in presidential elections, and the fact that Mu’azu is from the state is not expected to change the ruling party’s fortune in the forthcoming poll.

In 2003, Mu’azu was re-elected governor but former President Olusegun Obasanjo lost to Buhari in the presidential election in the state.

Buhari also won in Bauchi in 2007, while Jonathan did not even score 25% in the state in 2011, and even though that is the target this time around, the prospects are not looking bright.

Bala Mohammed, the FCT minister, is believed to be the only big Bauchi politician working to secure at least 25% for Jonathan, with the loyalty of others seriously in doubt.

Jonathan’s convoy was pelted with missiles in January when he went to Bauchi to campaign — an incident that had fingers pointing at the state governor, Isa Yuguda, who is not on good terms with Mohammed.

The incident was blamed on their rivalry but presidency is said to be unhappy with Mu’azu over the messy state of the PDP in the state.

An attempt to defend Mu’azu by the PDP national secretariat last week was dismissed by some Bauchi elders who asked the national publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, to stop “defending the indefensible”.

In a statement signed by Bibi Dogo on behalf of the elders, they asked Jonathan not to rely on Mu’azu to deliver 25% to him because the national chairman “has not done anything to empower stakeholders in the state”.

They said: “There is also nothing concrete on ground to show Mua’zu’s personal commitment to the Jonathan re-election efforts. Attending presidential campaign rallies organised by PDP presidential campaign organisation is not enough commitment from the national chairman of the party.

“In fact to govern a state for eight years under the same party is enough for Mu’azu to deliver Bauchi to Jonathan 100 percent, if actually Mu’azu is in control of the party in his state.

“Metuh should come to Bauchi to carry out thorough investigation on the true character of Mu’azu before defending the indefensible. The truth of the matter is that since his emergence as the PDP national chairman, Mu’azu has not on his own convened a stakeholders forum in Bauchi State to convince the people on why it is incumbent  to support Jonathan’s re-election.”

A presidency official who spoke with TheCable accused Mu’azu of using his position to cause disaffection within the party.

“He has lost the confidence of many members of the party because of his unholy alliance with some aspirants to make them candidates. It was scandalous.

“As a result, the president is not really happy with him. He himself knows that the president is only putting up with him. Nobody has asked him to resign and he is not likely to resign before the elections, but his cup is full,” he said.

If Mu’azu leaves a little over a year of being in office, the chairmanship position of the ruling party may appear jinxed.

His predecessor, Bamanga Tukur, left in controversial circumstances.

Tukur’s predecessor, Abubakar Baraje, held the position in an acting capacity and his ouster is believed to have led to the exit of his benefactor, Bukola Saraki, from the PDP.

Baraje led the breakaway “new PDP” which later merged with the APC to form what is considered as Nigeria’s biggest opposition party in this democratic dispensation.

President Jonathan ought to have known that Chief Obasanjo’s poltical sons like Martin Luther Agwai, and Mohammed Muazu can only be traitors in his poltical camp. He is a poor poltical strategist surrounded by advisers with devided loyalty. He should have learnt from the Military leaders. Your enemy’s friend is an enemy. I hope he doesn’t have to look over his shoulders regarding his personal security.

Whether Muazu is supporting Jonathan or not He will still win with a Landslide because he has worked enough to merit the votes of Nigerians. Its not propaganda that wins election it’s record of service n forward looking leadership not the backwardness Thiefnubu wants to sell to Nigerians. Jonathan will win the election because he can’t loose to Bokohari who is appearing in public once a week like a masquerade. Thiefnubu’s lies have expired. God pass dem.

Truly, he is slumbering. I don’t think he do interact with public to see the direction the well meaning Nigerians are going. Change is imminent. Nigerian should wake up from their slumber and join the rest of the world in effecting positive and beneficial changes. If APC fails us in this dispensation, we shall effect another change and throw them away like expired APC drug. No forward looking country stays with one party. Change brings development, advancement, progress, breakthrough, etc. The time is ripe for Nigeria to have a change of ruling party. Truth is bitter

I mean those that could not found their way in PDP cannot and will not effect CHANGE. If it were possible, we could try them for just 2yrs and see the TRUTH about them.

You have joined the bandwagon of APC to float the impression that everyone is working for Buhari. This deception will never fly. Buhari is old cargo. It is idiotic and ironic for people to say that in a country of 180 million people the only person that represents change is a man of 72 years who has been in government since 1960. That is not change in any shape or form. TheCable should know better but keeps deceiving itself with silly write ups and suggestions putting Buhari forward. APC a would have done better to put forward a Kwankwanso not Fashola. Fashola is no more a man to admire. He should go to jail with Tinubu.

The game is over for PDP. Buhari is winning 70% of the votes. Jonathan cannot bank on some people (’cause not all, I’m from S/S and I can’t support him again) in S/S and S/E alone (zones with the lowest number of voters) to deliver him. He won in 2011 partly because we the youths all over Nigeria supported him, thinking he was the messiah. And partly because of rigging. We the youths are disappointed in him. This country is bigger than any individual. I urge you all to support Buhari. Thank you..

Problem their team have is that we Nigerians are not crazy about Buhari, it is a simple case of anything but Jonathan

True. Most young people are not crazy about Buhari, particularly with his age. However, at this point, anything but GEJ and his mama p is acceptable. In another 4 years, we will review the performance of APC and if not acceptable, we will vote them out. 16 years of poor everything: infrastructure, economy, diplomacy, accountability, job creation etc. Lets have a change for the next 4 years.

Let’s us all stop to preach the politics of hatred & violence, it is not compulsory someone follow your choosy of candidate, everyone entitle to its own opinion and view, remember we all use to be one, don’t let politics to seperate us, I belief we know what is better for us. From my point of view, uncle GEJ did his best. His case can be likened to a student who read all night but still failed then the university advices him to withdraw or change his course of study. By now uncle GEJ shld know dt we Nigerians are like the university authorities. When d university advices you to withdraw, you simply pack your load and go. You cannot arm twist the university to continue to allow you to study a course that you lack the mental capacity to cope.

Ignorance is our core problem as Nigerians…… We complained of no job after graduation or as youth. If I may ask how many of our parents come to school to help us attend lectures or write exams but rather they provide the means for us. Gej can never bring jobs to ur doorstep cos he has created the means for u to achieve ur aim. Have u heard of u-win, g-win, sure-p, to list but a few. Change comes from within. Change agents are not extra-terrestial beings. They’re a products of the system and could even be beneficiaries of the system. But when they get thrown up as change agents, they act their roles. I believe that these change-chanting former PDP members led by GMB will act their roles and change Nigeria for the better. They need to be tried.

Sentiment apart! Irrespective of education, ethnic or religion background, I, for one, and as I believe every well meaning Nigeria suppose to act, do not care who rules this nation once there is stable power supply, justice prevail, good road network, powerful economy, stronger naira that can compete favourably with any other currency in the world, potable water, excellent healthcare system / policies, housing for all (no one suppose to be building house, it is the responsibility of a good government to build and give it out on mortgage to the citizens irrespective of who you are!), very strong military second to none, functional refinery (if the ruling class will jettison prioritizing the sales of crude oil and ethnic militias will not be allowed to carryout their oil theft activities) etc.

President Jonathan betrayed the trust of 180 million responsible citizens of this great nation. We all, devoid of ethnic and religion chauvinism, trusted this gentle-looking man with our vote but he proved us wrong. Brethens, leave sentiment apart, this man wrecked havoc to this nation. If number citizens that vow to uphold the constitution of Nigeria is spending another nation’s currency at the detriment of his own nation’s for election! This is criminal! Oga Jona is lavishing millions of dollars to draw support from the unscrupulous monarchs, tribal leaders and civil society group. He even legalize ethnic militias by given them pipeline security contract; another unpardonable insult on our armed forces, as if the dent on the image of the military that the loyal and gallant military are just redeeming now due to his political imbroglio, is not enough! Anyway, for whoever wins the election, remember that you cannot rule forever. For the ingrates that are pushing for ING, it is not only criminal but a great disservice to this nation. We will get back at you. You shall all reap the reward of your handiwork. Everything turns upside down. The atmosphere is tensed! Just because you want power at all cost that you willing failed to live up to. Or what can we call the current scenario, the same military that was tagged ‘coward’ (incredible! Not Nigeria military) by NSA Sambo Dansuki at his Chatham house lecture, now within two weeks crippled the activities of boko haram! Action President!!!

When late Gen. Owoeye Azazi (rtd), former NSA, told the world that PDP is boko haram, he was furiously sacked and immediately died mysteriously in helicopter crash alongside another disloyal PDP member! Lt. Gen. Luther Agwai of SURE-P only mentioned ‘change’ in his speech at OBJ’s birthday, he was fired immediately by uncle Jona! But to fire salvo on Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, the all-powerful Minister of Petroleum for alleged missing fund is too difficult for our dear President. What about almighty Coordinating Minister of Finance and Economy’s allegation of missing #30 trillion under her watch by erudite Prof. Soludo, my President was the first to condemn Prof. Soludo, whao! The Abuja Independence day bombing, Mr. President was the first to exonerate MEND and blamed it on boko haram despite the fact that MEND claimed responsibility, even without allowing DSS and other security agencies to do their findings! What a disgrace? Sir, you are the President of Nigeria and not Ijaw! Can someone tell me the response of Mr. President on the ammunition acquired by Tompolo, the Asari Dokubo of this world? What about the just teleguided rally of MASSOB and OPC against the use of card reader in 2015 election in which people were harassed and properties destroyed under the close watch of the security personnel?

In fact, what about uncontrollable first lady of Nigeria? Why cant she borrow leaf from the likes of late elegant Mrs Maryam Babangida, Justice Fati Abubakar, even Hajiah Turai whom all are women of honour? Oga has utterly lost control of his wife which made her to called her hubby’s opponent ‘braindrain’ (someone old enough to be her father!).

Sir, it is my candid advice, if you finally win, do not kill us by trying to regain all the lavished money by imposing harsh economic policy on Nigerians. I learnt you are proposing to increase fuel price by 1st of June, please sir, do not do it for posterity sake.

    God bless Nigeria.
