PDP dissolves Kano executive committee

The national working committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dissolved the Kano state executive committee of the party.

Kola Ologbondiyan, spokesman of the party, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.

The statement said the decision was taken at the NWC meeting of the party on Thursday.

“Consequently, a caretaker committee has been constituted to pilot the affairs of the state chapter of the party,” the statement read.

“Details of the caretaker committee will be made public in due course. All members of the party in Kano state and across the nation should be guided accordingly.”

Earlier, the executives of the PDP in the state asked a high court in the state to restrain the leadership of Uche Secondus, national chairman of the party, from disbanding the Kano chapter.

Masaud El-Doguwa, chairman of the party in the state, was among those who filed the suit.

N.S Umar, a judge, granted the prayer of the state exco and ordered that the parties involved maintain status quo.

He then fixed November 5, for hearing.
