Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are scheduled to meet on Saturday in Zamfara.

In a statement issued on Friday, Sulaiman Idris, media aide to Dauda Lawal, governor of Zamfara, said the governors will start arriving in the state today.

“Governor Dauda Lawal extends a warm welcome to his counterparts, the governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State,” the statement reads.

“The governors are convening today for an important meeting of the PDP Governors Forum.”

Idris said the “strategic meeting” will discuss key “political strategies as they navigate the current political landscape”.

He added that the governors will also deliberate on “pressing political issues, plan for party unity, and collaborate on developmental initiatives within their respective states”.

Part of the issues to discuss, he noted, include key concerns in preparation for the party’s national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
