The governors forum of the People Democratic Party (PDP) says detractors of the party want to see it in factions.

Speaking at the 98th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the party on Thursday, in Abuja, Bala Mohammed, chairman of the forum, said the PDP will ensure it makes Nigerians proud and bring good governance in all ramifications.

He said detractors of the party will not be given the opportunity to destroy it.

“We recognise that all eyes are on the PDP, especially we the governors and we are poised to bringing fear-mechanism so that we will bring good governance which will oppose what is happening in the APC,” Mohammed said.

“We want to ensure that we make Nigerians proud and bring good governance in all ramifications and with all humility and modesty, you recognise that the governors are doing very well.

“We know we have suffered as a party. Our presidential candidate suffered injustice and some of the gubernatorial candidates suffered injustice. At so many levels, we have had legal infractions.

“We recognise that there are some gaps in the leadership recruitment and in aspirations outside the lingering perception… and of course, the strategy of our detractors who are lingering and waiting somewhere to see us implored or explored.

“We will not give our detractors the opportunity to see what they want — creation of faction in the PDP.

“We appreciate the opportunity Nigerians have given us and we are going to work with humility and modesty with the little resources to get us to the higher height that PDP is known for. We will not sit down and allow Nigerians to wallow in hardship.”
