Members of the house of representatives elected on the platform of PDP have endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for second term, Hon. Mulikat Adeola-Akande said on Monday night.

She told the media after a meeting between the president, some governors and reps that the PDP caucus in the house had also passed a vote of confidence on Jonathan.

Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal was not at the meeting, although this was not considered surprising as he had never been an ally of Jonathan.

However, Deputy Speaker Emeka Ihedioha was at the meeting.

The president is yet to declare for second term, but all indications are now in that direction with the frenetic political activities across the country.

Adeola-Akande told journalists: “We are PDP caucus of the House of Representatives. A meeting like this is not strange because we met with the president who is our party leader. We deliberated on issues affecting our party.

“The house caucus on our own decided to pass a vote-of-confidence on Mr. President and also endorse him for second term.”

She did not confirm if the president accepted their proposal.

“We did the endorsement and we are urging him to run for second term,” she said when pressed to disclose the president’s response.

Security issues were also discussed at the meeting, she said.

PDP chairman Adamu Muazu also attended the meeting, along with governors of Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina and Kebbi.
