Nenadi Usman
Nenadi Usman, caretaker committee chair of the Labour Party (LP), says Peter Obi has become the voice of a generation determined to reform Nigeria’s political system.
Usman spoke on Tuesday at the launch of a book titled ‘Obi: The Political Change Agent’, held in Abuja.
The book, authored by Ike Abonyi, chronicles Obi’s political journey and the rise of the Obidient Movement.
Usman said the 250-page publication goes beyond politics to “tell the story of accountability against impunity, simplicity against flamboyance, principle against expediency and prudence against financial recklessness”.

“In every generation, there arises a voice that does not merely echo the frustrations of the people but dares to chart a new path for them,” she said.
“Mr Peter Obi, whose life and political saga we unveil today, has become such a voice.”
She described the Obidient Movement as “an emblem of youth political awakening and civic courage”.

“The book invites us to consider the inevitability of a new Nigeria. It takes us through a journey of disruption, reform, resistance, and rebirth — from the echoes of 1999’s democratic return to the turbulence of the 2023 general elections,” she said.
Usman commended Abonyi for his “bold and unflinching chronicle”, highlighting chapters on electoral intrigue, media battles, identity politics, and ideological commitment.
“As chairman of this occasion, I urge us not to see this book as the conclusion of an episode, but the preface to a new national dialogue,” Usman said.
“It challenges us to rethink the meaning of leadership, the role of political parties, and the place of the ordinary citizen in shaping extraordinary change.”

She said Nigeria’s future depends not on miracles, but on “meticulous leadership, courageous citizens, and uncompromising values”.
On June 2, Usman warned that Nigeria risks sliding into a one-party state if opposition parties fail to unite and prioritise national interest over personal ambition.
Speaking at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) award night in Abuja, she accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of undermining the country’s democratic foundations through deliberate efforts to weaken rival parties.
