Petrol sells for N540 per litre in Abuja, N488 in Lagos amid price hike

The retail price of petrol has continued to increase across the country, reaching a high of N540 per litre in some filling stations.

TheCable observed that the price of the product rose to high levels since the declaration by President Bola Tinubu that the petrol subsidy had stopped.

Although the president’s media team had clarified that the implementation of the policy would commence next month, post-subsidy realities are already setting in, as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited announced the adjustment of the pump price across its retail outlets nationwide.

On Wednesday, the product was sold for N511 per litre at Restopark filling station, Rumuola, and the NNPC Limited at Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt, respectively.

LAGOS

TheCable also observed that the price of petrol ranged from N488 to N500 per litre at the filling stations visited in Lagos.

At Northwest filling station in Gbagada, and Peridot, Festac Link Road, the product dispensed for N490 per litre and N500 a litre, respectively. 

NNPC mega stations at Second Rainbow and Ago Palace, the product was pegged at N488 per litre. 

ABUJA

In Abuja, the cost of the petrol was higher, retailing for as much as N540 a litre.

The commodity was sold for N537 per litre at Emadeb filling station, Mabushi. 

At AA Rano filling station in Kado, the product’s price stood at N540 per litre, and the commodity was sold for N537 a litre at  NNPC mega station, Lugbe. 

Despite the pump price hike, long queues were seen at the retail outlets.

ONDO

At Fabras filling station in Alagbaka; Lao filing station, along Hospital Road, Akure; and Nipco filling station, along Akure-Ado Road, petroleum marketers sold the commodity for between N350 a litre to N400 a litre.

KANO

Meanwhile, the price of petrol in Kano sells for N650 a litre at most filling stations visited.
