PHOTOS: Buhari’s last known public appearance was with Akinwunmi Adesina

Akinwumi Adesina, outgoing president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), was the last known public visitor of Muhammadu Buhari, former president of Nigeria, before his death on Sunday.

On April 17, Adesina met with Buhari in Kaduna to express appreciation for his support during his election and re-election as AfDB president.

“I visited President Buhari to express my deep appreciation for his incredibly supporting my nomination by President Jonathan for election as President, African Development Bank,” Adesina wrote on X.

“He strongly stood by me in difficult times, which ensured my re-election. Thank you Sir.”

It is still unclear when Buhari travelled abroad after this meeting but he sent his regrets when ECOWAS marked its 50th anniversary on May 28 and he could not attend because of his health.

Buhari died on Sunday, July 13, in a clinic in London, following a prolonged illness.
