Dauda Lawal, governor of Zamfara, has visited communities in the Kauran Namoda LGA of the state following repeated attacks by bandits.
A report by the Zamfara circle community initiative says 144 people have been kidnapped, 24 killed and 16 injured across several LGAs in the state.
In July, bandits reportedly killed 33 kidnapped victims after collecting a ransom of N50 million in Banga town.
Speaking on Wednesday during the visit, the governor condoled with families of victims and vowed to intensify the fight against insecurity in the state.

“I want to reaffirm my administration’s commitment to increasing our efforts in the fight against banditry,” Lawal said.
“May Allah expose and shame those responsible for these brutal attacks and senseless killings.”
The governor said the assailants “intentionally” carry out such attacks to instil fear in residents and urged communities to remain steadfast in prayers.
