The first batch of Nigerian athletes competing at the Olympic games has departed the country for Tokyo, Japan.

The group took off at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja on Tuesday after a brief admonition from Sunday Dare, minister of youths and sports development.

The minister also enjoined the athletes to compete clean and “bring glory to your father’s land.”
