From R-L: Nyesom Wike, Sim Fubara and Martin Amaewhule
Siminalayi Fubara attended a burial ceremony with Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt.
Hours earlier, Fubara, suspended governor of Rivers; and Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT); attended a late night peace meeting hosted by President Bola Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja.
On Saturday, Lere Olayinka, the minister’s spokesperson, shared in an X post that Wike was in Port Harcourt for the burial of his uncle.
“Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, alongside the Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule at the burial of Wike’s Uncle in Rumuepirikom, Rivers State today,” Olayinka posted.

Some lawmakers from the Rivers state house of assembly, and Martin Amaewhule, the suspended speaker of the assembly, also attended Thursday’s truce meeting.
Wike and Fubara have locked horns over political differences since 2023.
Their rift culminated in crisis that led to a polarisation of the Rivers state legislature and the dismantling of the state’s assembly complex.

On March 18, 2025, Tinubu declared emergency rule in Rivers over the political crisis and the targeting of oil installations in the state.
The president also suspended Fubara and the Rivers lawmakers; and installed a sole administrator to oversee the affairs of the state for an initial period of six months.
