Abba Yusuf received by crowd in Kano
Hundreds of Kano residents poured into busy roads on Wednesday to welcome Abba Yusuf, governor of the state.
The governor was making a return from Saudi Arabia after performing the 2025 Hajj.
Yusuf’s convoy was mobbed from the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport road to the government house, with members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) waving party flags.
The governor’s flight touched down in the city around 2:50pm.

“Alhamdulillah. After a fulfilling spiritual journey to this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia, I returned to a rousing welcome from a mammoth crowd of the good people of Kano,” Yusuf wrote on X.
“Our journey took several hours before we reached the Government House from the airport. I thank everyone for their time today.”
Dahiru Hashim, commissioner for environment and climate change in Kano, described the turnout as a sign of public approval.

“The mammoth crowd that welcomed His Excellency today at the Airport and along his route to the Kano State Government is a testament that Kano citizens are indeed satisfied with His Excellency’s transformation and infrastructural development,” he said.
