PHOTOS: Gridlock on Ibadan highway as petrol tanker explodes

A petrol tanker on Tuesday exploded along the Ibadan expressway between the Oremeji and Olorunsogo axis of the Oyo state capital city, causing a major traffic gridlock.

Officials of the Oyo State Fire Service were deployed to the scene to put out the fire.

Akinyemi Akinyinka, general manager of the fire service, confirmed the incident and the deployment of firefighters to the scene.

“Yes, a tanker is on fire near Sumurah, between Olorunsogo and Oremeji. Our response team is already at the scene,” Akinyinka was quoted by Punch Newspaper.

No casualty has been confirmed.
