On Monday, sparse passengers were sighted at terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) despite the suspension of planned strike action by Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON).

Last Friday, the association had said it would shut down flight operations from Monday over hike in the price of aviation fuel.

Over the weekend, Ibom Air, Aero Contractors, Dana Air and Arik Air pulled out of the planned shutdown.

In a turnaround on Sunday night, the AON revised its decision to shut down services, citing interventions from government and stakeholders.

When TheCable visited, there was low activity at the airport, especially at the drop-off zone, and only a few airlines were seen checking passengers.

However, Ibom Air had a considerable number of passengers queuing at the check-in area.
