Rabiu Kwankwaso, senator representing Kano central, has declared his intention to contest for president on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Kwankwaso made the announcement on Wednesday at Chida Hotel in Jabi, Abuja.

During his speech, the former Kano governor said: “As a custodian of your culture, heritage and history and also creating confidence in all Nigerians across the states, sectors and talents.

“We believe that education is the cornerstone of any development and nation-building and are very strong for fighting inequality, injustice and poverty. Education shall be a cardinal point of our administration.

“We shall provide ICT compliant high-quality personal development education and research for development.

“It will be made accessible to all. We are committed to providing good quality universal education from pre-primary to tertiary and vocational school level. We shall provide accessible, quality education to all Nigerians.”

The declaration comes after the senator was denied use of Eagle Square for the event, despite claiming to have made payment for the purpose.

Integrated Facility Management Services Limited, the firm in charge of Eagle Square, said the event would disrupt work flow, hence the cancellation of a pre-issued approval.

Here are photos of the crowd which thronged Chida Hotel and environs for Kwankwaso’s declaration.

Kwankwanso we are solidly behind you. In my own opinion, you are the suitable candidate to unseat Buhari in 2019. PDP should ensure you win the primary elections if they really want to unseat Buhari because you have the demographic, social and political advantage over other candidates.
