Zubaida Abubakar, the director-general (DG) of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), along with some officials of the agency, on Friday visited the flood-affected communities of Anguwan Hausawa and Fillin Maza in Mokwa LGA, Niger state.
On Wednesday night, floods submerged more than 50 residential houses–with their occupants – in the two communities.
According to NEMA, the death toll from the disaster has risen from 25 recorded on Thursday to 111 as of Friday, with about 5,000 residents displaced.
The DG assessed the extent of the damage and expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
