PHOTOS: Nigeria’s first female fighter pilot bags top awards at Ghana military college

Kafayat Sanni, Nigeria’s first female fighter pilot, has won the best allied student award at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Accra.
According to a statement by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Sanni also won the award for the best assistant commandant paper during the college’s graduation ceremony on Friday.
“Her outstanding performance at GAFCSC not only symbolises personal excellence and resilience but also underscores Nigeria’s growing leadership in regional defence and commitment to gender inclusion in the armed forces,” the statement reads.
In 2019, Sanni was decorated as NAF’s first female fighter pilot after completing her training in the US.
She was among the 13 female combatant pilots decorated after 55 years.
Since then, Sanni has flown the Alpha Jet and undertaken training sorties on the Super Mushshak, serving as a prolific instructor pilot and producing and mentoring younger pilots for the NAF.
