Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) says Mele Kyari, its group chief executive officer (GCEO), met with Daewoo Engineering and Construction (Daewoo E&C) to discuss liquified natural gas (LNG) collaboration.

NNPC, in a statement on Monday, said the meeting comes at a time international community is showing increased interest in investing in Nigeria’s energy industry.

In February 2023, NNPC had signed a maintenance services contract with Daewoo Engineering and Construction for a quick-fix repair of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC).

According to the statement, Kyari visited the global headquarters of Daewoo E&C in Seoul, South Korea.

Kyari met with Wonju Jung, group chairman, Daewoo E&C, and Jungwan Baek, the company’s chief executive officer and president.

“This visit underscores the growing interest from the international community in investing in Nigeria’s energy industry, buoyed by the efforts of the administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to foster a conducive business environment with a focus on the oil and gas sector,” NNPC said.
