The remains of Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, was laid to rest on Friday in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Olakulehin died on July 7, 2025, aged 90 — a year after ascending the throne.
He was buried in accordance with military funeral rites at the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter’s Cemetery in Ibadan.
The late monarch joined the Nigerian Army as a lieutenant in 1970 and retired voluntarily from service in 1979 as a major.

The army, in a statement issued on Friday, said the burial rites was in recognition of his selfless service to the nation.
“The late Ibadan monarch was a professional military officer, whose character and commitment to duty distinguished him amongst his peers. He discharged his responsibilities diligently and professionally,” the statement reads.
