Students were seen leaving the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Bwari, Abuja, on November 22 in droves — hours after 47 Unity Colleges were temporarily shut over security concerns.
In a statement signed by Ali Ibrahim, the acting PRO of the school, FGGC Bwari said it is “closing temporarily” as part of a “precautionary measure”.
In the early hours of Saturday, parents were seen bringing their children’s luggage out of the school.
Some students were also seen clutching luggage on the sidewalk as security officers looked on.

There has been a surge in mass abduction of schoolchildren across the north-west and north-central regions.
In a concentrated period of just one week in November, two major incidents involving schoolchildren occurred.
On November 17, some gunmen struck the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi state.

About 25 girls were abducted, and the school’s vice-principal was killed.
On November 21, armed men again attacked St. Mary’s School, a Catholic institution in the Papiri community, Agwara LGA of Niger state.
On Saturday, the Niger state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) relayed that 315 people — including 303 students and 12 teachers — were abducted from the school.
