Mohammed Adoke, former attorney-general of the federation (AGF) and minister of justice, on Thursday formally presented his memoir titled ‘OPL 245: The Inside Story of the $1.3 Billion Nigerian Oil Block’ at an event attended by several prominent political figures.
The book presentation, which took place at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, drew dignitaries from across the political spectrum, including Kashim Shettima, the vice-president.
Other high-profile attendees included Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano state and presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 election, and Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna state.
Also in attendance were former senate presidents Anyim Pius Anyim and Bukola Saraki; Uche Nnaji, the minister of innovation, science, and technology; and Hadiza Bala Usman, special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on policy coordination.

The event was also graced by Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti state; Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo state; Abdulfatah Ahmed, former governor of Kwara state; Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation; and Aminu Tambuwal, senator representing Sokoto south.
Usman Ododo, the governor of Kogi state, was represented by his deputy, Joel Oyibo-Salifu.
Adoke, who served as AGF between 2010 and 2015 under former President Goodluck Jonathan, was at the centre of the controversial OPL 245 transaction.

The launch also featured brief remarks by several dignitaries who paid tribute to Adoke’s courage in documenting his side of the OPL 245 saga, with some describing the memoir as a valuable contribution to Nigeria’s legal and political history.
