Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of the house of representatives, on Tuesday inaugurated the Mabushi bus and taxi terminal constructed by Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT).

Said Alkali, the minister of transportation, commended the minister for the construction of the terminal in Abuja, describing the project as a “landmark achievement”.

Alkali assured that the ministry of transportation would collaborate with the FCTA to sustain the initiative, which he said would enhance public transport and stimulate economic activities within the territory.

“This laudable initiative will undoubtedly improve public transport and boost economic activities in the FCT,” Alkali said.

“It will also provide a veritable avenue to facilitate the realisation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which places transportation at the top of its priorities.”

The minister appealed to stakeholders, particularly leaders of road transport unions, to maximise the use of the terminal.

Wike announced that the Kugbo terminal would be inaugurated next week, while the one at the central business area terminal would be ready before the end of 2025.

Wike further revealed plans to construct three more terminals this year in Gwagwalada, Bwari, and Kuje.

He explained that the terminals aim to enhance security by reducing the number of vehicles on the road and eliminating the “one chance” syndrome, where commuters are vulnerable to attacks by unknown drivers.
