Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), convened an expanded security committee meeting on Wednesday amid rising concern over criminal activities in Abuja.
The meeting had in attendance Mariya Mahmoud, FCT minister of state, heads of security agencies, area council chairmen, traditional rulers and religious leaders.
The meeting follows a directive given by Wike on Tuesday to security agencies to intensify surveillance and strengthen security operations across Abuja.
He said the directive was part of renewed efforts to curb criminal activities in the territory.
