Thousands of mourners have converged on St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City, Rome, for the funeral of Pope Francis.
Amoung them are United States President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prince William.
The head of the Catholic Church died aged 88 on Easter Monday following a prolonged battle with bilateral pneumonia.
He will be buried outside the Vatican at the church of Santa Maria Maggiore — one of the major Basilicas in Rome.

Francis will be laid to rest in a simple wooden casket lined with zinc, in adherence to his wish to forego the elaborate tradition of his predecessors, who were buried in three nesting coffins of cypress, lead, and oak.
The late pontiff’s burial mass will be presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, dean of the college of Cardinals, alongside archbishops, bishops, and priests from around the world.
