The Kaduna police command says its operatives have arrested 25 suspects over alleged thuggery in the state.

In a statement on Wednesday, Mansir Hassan, the police spokesperson in Kaduna, said the suspects were arrested by the anti-social vices unit of the command.

Hassan noted that the newly created unit is saddled with the responsibility of handling cases of thuggery, phone and handbag snatching, and drug-related offences in the state.

“The anti-vices unit has since started operating and will be liaising with all the divisions to diligently handle cases of thuggery, phone snatching, drug and illicit substance consumption, peddling, possessing dangerous weapons, etc.” the statement reads.

“No fewer than 25 suspects have been arrested across the metropolis in relation to the aforesaid offences with 16 among them arrested within the Rigasa axis and charged for thuggery and possession of dangerous weapons.”

Hassan quoted Ali Daviji, the commissioner of police in the state, as tasking the personnel to ensure that criminals are smoked out.
