The Lagos police command says its operatives have arrested Issa Muhammed, a 22-year-old car wash attendant, for allegedly stealing a customer’s vehicle.
In a statement on Tuesday, Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson of the police in Lagos, said the suspect was arrested on Sunday in the Agege area of the city.
Hundeyin said the suspect absconded with a 2012 Toyota Camry handed over to him for cleaning in the Isheri area of Lagos.
He added that the incident happened days after his employment as an attendant at the service station.

“The suspect was arrested on Sunday in the Agege area of Lagos State where he parked the car to link up with a buyer,” the statement reads.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that the car was handed over to the suspect three hours earlier by the owner in preparation for a family outing later in the afternoon.
“Muhammed, who was employed at the car wash three days before the incident, had removed the number plate of the car and discarded all identities linking the car to its owner immediately he arrived at Agege.”

The police spokesperson said the case would be charged to court after investigation.
A similar incident happened in Abuja in June when a man who pretended as a buyer absconded with a Mercedes Benz GLB 250 and was arrested 18 days later by the police in Edo.
