Police arrest man for ‘raping, impregnating’ his 13-year-old daughter in Ogun
The Ogun state police command says its operatives have arrested one Mfon Jeremiah over alleged rape of his 13-year-daughter.
According to the police, the victim’s mother reported the case at the Mowe divisional headquarters after she discovered her daughter is pregnant.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, Ogun police spokesperson, in a statement on Friday, said it was confirmed at a hospital that the victim is four months pregnant.
Oyeyemi said the suspect, a resident of Mowe area, claimed he was dreaming when he “raped” his daughter.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed being responsible for his daughter’s pregnancy but claimed to be under spell when he did it,” the statement reads.
“He informed the police that he was dreaming having sex with his wife who had separated from him for some time now, only to discover that it was his daughter that he had sex with.
“Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspect be transferred to anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation department for further investigation and possible prosecution.”
