Police arrest man for ‘unlawful possession of pistol’ in Lagos

The police command in Lagos says its operatives have arrested Adegun Aboderin, a 33-year-old male, over unlawful possession of a pistol.

Aboderin was arrested in the Abule-Ado area of the state.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the state’s police spokesperson, disclosed the arrest in a post on his X handle on Thursday.

Hundeyin said the suspect was apprehended during a stop-and-search operation, adding that a locally fabricated semi-automatic pistol was recovered from him.


“Suspect: Adegun Aboderin ‘m’ aged 33, Exhibit: Locally fabricated semi-automatic pistol. Where arrested: Abule-Ado. Time arrested: 6am. How arrested: Stop-and-search,” Hundeyin wrote.

The spokesperson added that the command has commenced an investigation into the incident.

On April 18, the Lagos command also arrested a minibus driver over alleged unlawful possession of pistols.
