The Lagos police command says it has arrested a man over attempts to sell his company’s car to raise money for the relocation of his family to Ghana.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s public relations officer, confirmed the arrest to NAN on Tuesday.
Hundeyin said on January 16, the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), received intelligence concerning a Toyota Hilux vehicle suspected to have been stolen around 1 pm.
He added that the vehicle was later recovered from one Arthur Benjamin in Ilukogun village.
Hundeyin said investigation is ongoing to enable the police arrest other members of the gang.
“On the strength of the information, a team of detectives swung into action,” Hundeyin said.
“In the course of the investigation, the said vehicle was traced and located at Ilukogun village, a boundary between Lagos and Ogun states.
“The suspect was arrested and he confessed to have stolen the vehicle from his workplace, with an intention to sell and run away to Ghana with his family.
“Investigation is still in progress for possible arrest of other members of his gang.”
